Nuvi 310 & Metroguide Compatible?

I've been trying to buy the City Navigator North America DVD, but a number of stockists don't have it, and I'm off to the states next week.

I can get hold of Metroguide V7, but will it work? Garmin say I need City Navigator, but I'm always suspiscious of someone trying to sell me the more expensive product.

Does anyone have experience of using Metroguide with the Nuvi 310?

Metroguide has to be 'manipulated' before it will autoroute!
