Thought this might be of interest. I know there are a few 2 & 3gb CF cards around, but at $213 !!

https://ec.transcendusa.com/product/memspitem.asp variable page but CF is easy to find

Cheers

It has to be pointed out that this is a Microdrive, not flash memory, so it will draw more power and be more fragile than a flash memory card.

However, CompactFlash cards of 1.5GB and above that are flash memory are incredibly expensive.

Dave (Burrows) uses 2.2GB Microdrives in his professional digital camera gear and his iPAQs and seems pleased with them. You just have to understand the limitations of them when compared to flash memory based cards.

I still love the MicroDrive's and those 2.2gb drives are great for space. They're fine for playing things like MP3's but you will find map loading on some packages quite resource intensive. Apps like TomTom etc are okay, but Destinator 3 continually loads maps whilst you're using them rather than loading a huge part of the file, which adds to access times and can slow Destinator 3 down. Apart from D3 though, I haven't had any problems.

The one thing to worry about with the drives is you don't use a windscreen mount with the magnetic plate to stick to the Pocket PC. It'll not only wipe the drive but crash the heads permanently on the drive. Been there, done that and got burnt when I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Embarassed
