I have just come across a problem that i was not aware of when ammending a poi in the database, possibly created by myself when ammending a poi but not location, when ammending it may be a good idea to ensure that the crosshairs are on the actual location you require, I have noticed in one recent when ammended but not intending to repositioned actually was repositioned, it may be me not being clear in submission or not keeping an eye on crosshair, perhaps richard could comment. |

The co-ordinates of the crosshairs marker are transferred to the Latitude and Longitude boxes when you click the "Update Co-ordinates" button. Moving around the map by scrolling etc does not change the POI co-ordintates, so can you take me through the steps that gave you your unintentional change of co-ordinates.

Richard, the poi i ammended was 155164 and because i was only changing the detail i.e. adding non food outlet, I was not watching the position of the crosshair, but then clicked on the poi to gain the poi reference no, because the update coordinates register the position of the crosshair it would show the incorrect position and then i presume you update to this, I think because I was changing detail only and not location, the coordinates did not register in my mind at the time. |

Yes I did notice that the poi position reverted to an earlier "wrong" location when you changed the details to reflect that the Co-op was a non-food outlet. However, all I can do is take the alterations on trust and so the poi reverted to the earlier position when the details were updated. As you say it has now been corrected
I would do the following when only the details are to be changed:
1. Use a search string in the Find box to get into the general area of the POI that is to be changed
2. Click on the POI that is to be updated
3. Click on the ID link just above the Google Map to load the stored data into the table
4. Select "Change existing POI" in the Action drop-down list box
5. Make the changes to the other boxes, Title, Details etc
6. Use the Comments box to tell me what you have changed (this really does help me)
7. Click the Submit Entry button

Thanks Richard, I posted this so that others can avoid doing what I did in focusing your mind on one thing and missing the other relevant points |

Not much use to me I'm afraid - Richard, did you notice how many attempts it took me to relocate the Wobbly Wheel?? _________________ Dennis

Yes I have managed to make sense of your submissions. It will (should) be easier next time.

It took me ages. I had used the POI (Premier Travel Inn) to navigate to it on Saturday and because it wasn't close enough, I went to relocate it for you. (I had used the POI to decide I could stay the night and walk to my party at the nearby Herb Centre, but when I got there found it was too far to walk, so had to abstain from the nectar and drive!) Trouble is, the site map isn't detailed enough, neither is Google Earth and when I used MSN Live Local it was perfectly clear, but I couldn't get it to give me the coordinates. I blame all this new technology. We used to respect our elders when I was a boy. _________________ Dennis
