Hi,
Does anyone know if you can install additional software i.e games etc onto the same memory card as tomtom nav 6. My intention was to get a 4gb sd card, install tomtom, then install a heap of other stuff mainly so I don't have to keep swapping memory cards!
Tomtom say this is not a good idea because other programs may corrupt the tomtom software.
Has anyone tried this?
Cheers

I have a 2gb SD card with TTN6.03, Western Europe Map, Sprite Backup, London Streets, London Underground & Trains, London Bus, Paris, Rough Guide to Amsterdam, All by Visual IT, Pocket Converter, Pocket Translator, and 3 or 4 games. They've never given me any problems and I've never even heard of, or seen any warnings that you shouldn't do it.
I would imagine it's much the same as saying you should only have one programe on your PC hard drive. But if you've asked TT Support the direct question it's probably someone covering his back. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Hi all,
Thanks for the quick responce, it has given some re-assurance that it is more than likely OK to do it.
I thought it might have been TT support covering their backs!

Sounds like a rather weak reply from Tomtom. If their software is at risk of corruption from other software residing on the card then maybe they ought to put a little more effort into making it more resilient...
I'm another for whom it has never caused any problems - you should be just fine (but I can say that coz you can't sue me if I'm wrong!) |
