traveling in south africa with tom tom navigator 5

hi there all , i am using a XDA11i with tt5 software and im off to South Africa for a long stay (6mnths +). can anyone give me any advice into whether i will be able to use my device and where and how i can get it changed /updated for use there. im a bit of a technophobe so please be easy with me on any advice given .I have emailed a South African PDA company enquiring about there maps /software. thanks to anyone with any one with advice

Me too but I don't think there are any TomTom maps for SA.
