I make use of my 910 as an MP3 player. How do I set TT into a mode so that it's not following a route and giving me spoken instructions thereby interrupting my listening. If I disable sound I also lose it on MP3's.

The "Clear Route" option will stop the directions, but if you have enabled Speed Camera Warnings and checked Warn ONLY if POI on route you won't get a warning either!
To run silent with warnings make sure you have no route planned and don't use the check box for Warn Only if POI on route.
If you cannot find the Clear Route icon, try selecting "Show ALL menu options, then it will appear - Mike

If its not following a route then its not navigating! so I think what I said still stands true, it is not possible to load the silent voice and use that as it still pauses the mp3, so I guess the mp3 only with true silent route is not possible (still the primary function of the device is a navigation aid, the add ons just increase the versatility of the unit) - Mike

If its not following a route, then as Mike said, why would it interrupt the MP3s?

The mp3s will only be interupted by BEEP warnings when you pass speed camera's (if you have no route planned).
:D

I think now with MP3S on the tomtom there may be a need for some more sound options in the software. At present its either ON or OFF for everything.A feature where you could choose to MUTE the spoken directions and still have the MP3S audible.

:D

For totally silent running you can also remove the TomTom Speed Camera POI files (there is no way to turn these warnings off other than removal of the files AFAIK), there are some additional instructions on how to do this HERE - Mike

if you read tonyd's post ,something is interrupting the listening to his mp3s..i can only deduct that its the voice directions when he's navigating..what you say is correct mike, but it sounds like he wants screen navigation and no voice directions and still have the mp3 facility...

If you want an MP3 player without navigation, why not just buy an MP3 player?

I'm using my Go 700 as a navigation tool, and my sandisk MP3 player for music through an FM transmitter. Two tools which are expert in their own fields, rather than a jack of all trades.

I think we need TonyD to come back and say exactly what he's after... From his post, it sounds like he wants it set to "Not navigating". That's easy, just clear route.

If he really wants "Navigating on screen but no voice", that's a bit trickier - the downloadable "silent voice" will still mute the mp3 for the duration. Could try selecting a "greyed out" voice from the normal select voice menu. (Try a search for "ghost voice for details either here or on yourNAV). This usually works, but there are occasions where it won't let you select it.

Sorry folks, only just realised I never replied to this.
Yes, ideally I want it navigating but no spoken instructions and no interuptions to my MP3 playing. However, "clear route" goes a long way towards what I want thanks.

ive deleted ALL my voices on the tomtom.done on the tomtom :P

All i have to interupt my mp3s is the odd speed cam audio alerts.

Not even any gaps in the music. :D

Although I found it once before, I no longer can find the "clear route" option. I have all menus enabled - which screen does it appear on ?
