Hi, Hope anyone can help me
I have an E740 with PPC2002 (build 11178) and a brandnew Sysonchip with serial 0312265xxx.

according to the sysonchip manual i supposed to setup the port settings to com1 and NMEA 4800 baud in the sysonchip GPS view program.
This setting brings the following error: "COM port open Error"

I read somewhere that I should deinstall TomTom3 GPS or reinstall the latets version 302 of TT3. But the problem stays.

I tried with TomTom3 GPS (V3.02) the supported Sysonchip GPS CF PLUS driver and in the other pull down menu the SYSonChip CF_GPS_receiver. Then the power led goes on (at the GPS receiver) but no action in the status window.

Then I tried The NMEA 0183v2 4800/SYSonChip CF_GPS_receiver setting. GPS is powerd on and there is some action in the status window an animation from the satelite to the PPC icon and a date time is shown. But thats it.

Then I tried The NMEA 0183v2 4800/Com1 setting. GPS is powerd OFF and there is NO action in the status window.

Again did some reading downloaded Winfast navigator from this site and tried the settings com 1, same error as above. removed the CF and plugged it in again. Pop Up "device plug in" com 4 was shown. So I mad the port setting Com4 and 4800 baud.

Again there was some action. In the development screen there were a lot of missing fields with a lot of commas.

PS in Winfast navigator the following is shown. Com1USB Com4Modem.

If could reasign com1 maybe it could work but i dont no how?

So please help!?

What am i doing wrong here.

The combination where you had the time and date was the right one - go back to that and leave the setup with a clear view of the sky whilst stationary for a few minutes. It should then get a position lock.

It can take a brand new GPS a very long time to get a position lock.

Yes, it works
The "NMEA 0183v2 4800/SYSonChip CF_GPS_receiver" setting is the correct one even if it is wrong according to the manual.
Yes a clear view of the sky helped a lot. How stupid of me. Idea

Thanks for the help. Thumbs Up
