|
|
Im looking to buy my first sat nav unit but need a few requirements.
Preferably one i can add the speed camera sites from here.
Something that is reliable and cheap
Bluetooth hands free talking
Was looking at a navman F20 but didnt like the idea of buying new maps. Then thought the tomtom one regional until i saw it only used bluetooth for tom tom plus features
Is it worth the extra money for the bluetooth handsfree feature? i got a good bluetooth earpiece so not really needed if it adds too much cash to the bill
Cheers in advance

Welcome to the forum, I would consider the TomTom 510 as it is available with maps of Europe from some outlets, make sure you use the external microphone though as the inbuilt one isn't too good. Also check that your phone is actually supported by the TomTom device, if its not on this list then it might not work.
One other device to consider is the Garmin Nuvi-310, similar price/ spec etc. - Mike |

thanks for the reply Mike.
Wanted to stay under the £200 mark really.
Whats best in that range so minus the bluetooth feature guess ill have to put up with the earpiece

Its not going to be minus the Bluetooth feature, but it doesn't support Hands Free for the mobile, take a close look at the TomTom One V3. You can either purchase it for just UK, or Full Europe mapping - this choice depends on whether you drive in Europe at all - it might cost a little more to start with, but it is considerably cheaper than upgrading later (which you could still do with the UK only version) - Mike |

Try the links to the advertisers to the right of this page, some of them incorrectly use the name TomTom One V2, but this device never existed - if you get one and connect it to your PC it will state V3.
A quick check through the adverst will find the cheaper price, just remember to factor in any postage costs as that can make a difference by a few quid - Mike |

If you really don't want the bluetooth why not look at the Mio c210 for £100, or if you want bluetooth the Mio C510e for £170, this also includes europe maps. Both from here:
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/
There is also the via michelin x950uk for £120 from here:

went out today and bought a garmin c510 deluxe from halfords. Paid £199 for it and when i got home the bit of paper with registration details on it was missing. I went back to the store and kicked up a fuss saying it had already been opened and how concerned i was that the details were quite important. The store manager offered me a full refund or some money off when i asked how much he said £20.
Seeing that this would bring the price down to £179 what with the free traffic info on the unit i was quite happy |
