Same journey, two different routes?

My i3 sends me to work one way (sensible route I would choose myself)
Then a different route home. Tiny country lanes, 50M through a flooded ford!!!

Should the machine pick a completely different route home? Is this a fault?

This happened to me, it seems to be because where you start your return journey is not exactly the same place as you told it to go to in the first place.

Also some routes are very similar in time, so i slight change of location towards one may swing it....
