New to Sat Nav! Help please!

I have downloaded some POI's from this site for my Tom Tom Go 710. I have unzipped them but I can not work out how to install them. On the Tom Tom Home software they do not appear! What am I missing/doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum, don't bother using TomTom Home to install the POI files, dock the device and connect to the PC then use Windows Explorer to copy the POI files to the Map folder on your device.
A POI file comprises of two files, the first ends with .bmp (the icon) and the second is .ov2 (which contains the locations).
The TomTom device will appear in Windows Explorer as a seperate drive, click it to access the unit, then locate the folder that is named Western Europe (or similar) the POI files need to placed in here - Mike
