I recently noticed the new USA & Canada Map (v6) does not have the retails stores POI, yet the old map and the UK v6 map does...
If you go to the TomTom site you can download this POI for the USA map for free, me thinks someone forgot to include this with the map updated maps. |

Hi. I am in Florida at the moment and have downloaded my new USA maps. You mention a POI for stores that you can download from TT. I have been looking for this on there site but cannot find it, can you direct me to it as I would like to download. I have a TT one V2. Keep it simple please as I am not very good with all this high tech gear.
Thanks
Andrew |

Lucky you.... There's absolutely b****r all POIs for the UK available from TomTom and the built in ones are a scandal!
(I know all the places where you CAN get UK POIs from, I'm just having a rant!) |

Thanks a lot, found it and will download later. These USA maps are a real bonus when driving around out here, have not found any significant errors yet although because of the rate of road widening out here one or two are still showing as single carriageway and are now dual.

The UK retail stores POI category built in is a joke, loads of autopart centres and that's it... Luckily loads available on this site |

Hi,
Just downloaded the above file (twice!) but WinZip reports that it is not a valid archive. Has anyone managed to download (and install) it OK?
Thanks,
David |

Does not show on TomTom home, this is an optional download not an update. |

Further to my earlier posting, would I be correct in assuming that this file is only available to users who subscribe (either in the UK or in the USA) to TomTom's 'Plus' services?
It that is in fact the case it might just explain why a direct link to the above file, although apparently successful, does not produce a readable archive! |

Dunno about that, but the file they referred to is certainly of American shops, so not a lot of use to UK owners.
UK site only has a few Wireless Hotspots files and not a lot else.
Why bother when there are so much better POI sites out there? (or this site). |

Thanks Andy, but that was exactly why I wanted it! Having ordered the DVD map update, I intend to use it when we are over in Florida next month!
Has anyone actually managed to successfully download and unzip this file, directly from the link please? |

I have tried all day via TomTom and Internet website, and neither one works.
The download for Retail_Shopping does not work the files returned are unreadable by tomtom 6.
If you have successfully downloaded please send me a copy of the ov2 and bmp files.
Thanks a million |

I understand now, Montala
I just downloaded it. Haven't tried putting it on my Go (I don't have US maps), but tried opening it in POI Edit, and it said it was an "invalid ov2 file".
Maybe they are an odd format like the TomTom speed camera files are? Those still have an ov2 extension, but don't behave like a standard .ov2. |
