Transferring viaMichelin to a larger SD card

vM have supplied the following information which may be useful:

Max size SD cards
Palm Tungsten E2 = 1Gb
Palm TX = 2Gb

SD cards are now sold in a variety of speeds as well as sizes, being given names like “High Speed” or “Extreme” or more usefully an indication of speed such as 80x or 133x. The faster cards will of course result in smoother operation of any software that needs to access the card.

1) Format the new SD-card (this has to be done with the PDA)

2) VERY IMPORTANT: Before doing the Hard Reset,
- Do a back up of your personal information in the PDA (Synchronize or use a 3rd party application such as Blue Nomads Backup Buddy)
- Take out any SD or MMC card from the PDA

3) Perform a hard reset with the PDA (Use a paperclip or similar to press the reset on the back of the Palm whilst holding down the power button – release after the Palm logo appears then press page up when instructed).

4) Be sure that you have installed the ViaMichelin software from the CD/DVD onto your PC

5) Connect the PDA to the PC with the USB cable.

6) Install the ViaMichelin software on your PDA and SD card with the instms.exe utility. You can open this program on your computer from -
My Computer - Program files - ViaMichelin - ViaMichelin PDA - instms.exe
Follow the instructions of the program.

The SD card now has a useable copy of vM on it and you can store your 128Mb original as a safety backup and enjoy the luxury of your Palm with real estate to spare.
