Help. I downloaded the new UK Map and it apparently also upgraded my firmware.
I turned on the unit and the interface looked very different. But...all my settings (home, favourites etc) were gone. No postcode search was visable.
I dont know what to do. Im currently trying to copy back the old settings to my sd card.
Any ideas why my settings disappeared?

Copy your mapsettings.cnf from the old map folder to the new one.
Once again I ask

Thanks, I think I sussed it now!
Im no mug when it comes to pc's yet I really struggled doing this upgrade. I just wonder how the verage user copes.
TomTom pride themseves on ease of use and yet upgrading is a nasty experience and one I paid over £30 to do!

We have a good Search facility. Perhaps more time could be taken to learn about it and put it to good use. _________________ Tim |

I purchased a tomtom910 recently and i upgraded the firmware via tomtom HOME.
When i checked my tomotom after the upgrade i could not see my maps or postcode search 8O
Anyway i figured it out.You have to click the screen and go to "manage maps" then select UK MAPS. :D :D I had GHAN or somewhere as default after the upgrade. :D |

'Cos no-one will ever bother to look there...
We've done just that, and made a "How to..." section for several "standard tasks" on another forum. We still get the same questions asked over and over again.
It seems to be the way of forums that people always find it easier to just fire off a post and hope someone else has all the answers, rather than take a few minutes to find them for themselves.
I take the view that most of the time I really enjoy trying to help people out, even when the same question has been asked three times that day, but on the days where SO I'm grumpy, I'd bite their heads off, I try not to post at all.
Works about 50% of the time! |
