Route 66 mobile 2005: No routing possible due to pulsing GPS

Hello from a new user. I tried to search for threads about this issue but could not find any so here comes:

I currently use a bluetooth GPS receiver Weiom BT-S8 BTS8 with Route 66 Mobile 2005 for Nokia Symbian S60. I run the software on a Nokia 6680 with the latest firmware V 5.04.07 and have successfully paired the phone and the receiver. I can also see the location symbol on the screen of Route66 .

However, there is the problem: The GPS appears to send the location in pulses, something like once every three seconds and the Route 66 does not like that. The location symbol flashes in and out and "No GPS data" is displayed every time the symbol is out. The receiver all the time reports solid lock to satellites and for example now the Route 66 lists Satellites: 4 or 5.

When driving the pulsing symbol follows created route but I get no guidance. I take that this is due to long pauses between location updates from the receiver? Has anybody else suffered from similar issues?

The receiver works fine with Nokia N70. Problem solved, kind of. Now have to find some other use for 6680.
