Tim, try following THIS Guide, whilst it was written for a different device it shows what to do, simply ignore the parts about Text To Speech as your new toy doesn't have that feature. For spoken alerts I suggest you have a read through THIS look at the ogg file method as this is easier to sort out (or so I think) - Mike

If you use tomtom Home on the PC you can use either method, I prefer to use the ov2 files via Windows Explorer to be honest. The guide I have linked to assumes the use of the ov2 files NOT the home method, so if you aim to follow it I suggest you use ov2 - Mike

i have downloaded the zip file, and you say extract it to:-

Scroll down the contents of the TomTom device and click the folder Western_Central_Europe.

Have not got that folder Sad

do i put it the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland folder?

Cheers,, the beer has come out now its going to be a long task

Yes in your case the map folder will be named differently put the files in the folder United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland folder and you should be OK - Mike

For an update you simply download the zip folder from PGPSW, unzip/ extract the contents and copy/ paste to your map folder, when asked to replace existing file answer "Yes To All" and thats it, you don't have to re-configure the warnings, simply replacing the ov2 files is sufficiant to flush the old data at the same time as loading the new.
On the subject of the Cow warning I have sent you an e-mail which should be used in conjunction with the second link in my earlier post WRT spoken alerts - Mike

Mike thanks very much for your help, you make it easy to follow, I am just about to download the sound files but cannot see the version number for the download on my tomtom this is the information:-

App 6.501
GPS v1.21, Boot 4.81
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland v660.1199

any idea which files to download on the link

Cheers again

6,501 is listed under the Go / Rider / One section of THIS Page, although this is the old method for spoken camera alerts, it works very well, but is limitted to 15 warnings, the OGG file method further down the page I linked to earlier allows a spoken alert for each POI loaded upto your maximum of 100 - Mike
