Hi
I have just received an early Christmas present, a MIO P350. Try as I might I can not get an ActiveSync with my PC. The installation gets about half way then is aborted. I am running ZoneAlarm, Spybot and Adaware.
I have tried the Microsoft site and ZoneAlarm seems to be a known problem. However I can not follow their instructions. They want me to go into ZoneAlarm and navigate to the place on my 'C drive where the ActiveSync software is and then give ZoneAlarm permission to let the software run. I can't get the software onto my computer! Even with all the above software disabled or removed I am having problems. Please help.

Download and Save Activesync 4.2 to My Documents.

Unplug your Modem or Hub.

Start - Turn Off - Restart your computer.

As soon as it starts to load, hold down the F8 key.

This will put you into Safe Mode.

Go to the Avtivesync file, double click on it and it shold install.

Re-boot once more.

re-connect Modem or Hub.

Hi
thanks for your advice. Problem traced to a corrupt version of Microsoft Outlook. PC and PPC now linked through ActiveSync. I have moved files from PC to PPC but note that synchronisation is not completing. Could this be a firewall problem?

It could be but first try this.

Make sure your Mio P350 is not connected to your Desktop.

Start ActiveSync in your Desktop and go to File - Delete Mobile Device.

Stop ActiveSync.

On your P350 go to Start - Settings - System - About - Device ID.

Change the Device Name to something different to that which is shown.

Return to your Today page.

Connect P350 to your Desktop and follow the Wizard to re-Sync.

If that doesn't work, temporarily disable ZoneAlarm and do the above again but re-name your Device ID. e.g If you used MyPocketPC, change it to MyPocketPC1.
