I have a 6910 with TT5 pre loaded which worked ok. However I bought a copy of TT6 from TomTom (on an SD card) and tried to get it to load. Just starting the device with the card in did nothing. Trying to kick it off from the card using the files within a directory named 2577 set the thing going. It seemed to load up the application ok but I cannot access the maps that came with TT6.
I assume I have in some way offended it ... any guidance would be appreciated.

This should work ok. Make sure that you are really starting TTN6 because the built in TTN5 version may or may not be able to read the v6 maps.

How do you start TomTom?

Hi
The TT6 application appeared to have overwritten TT5 ok and has deposited the TT6 logo on the windows screen.

When tapped TT6 starts up using a previously downloaded TT5 map of my home city (Leeds UK) and seems to work ok.

My problem is getting TT6 to access the GB maps that appear to be resident on the TT6 card. I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that these maps should be accessible via the menu Change preferences, Manage maps, Switch maps.

Interstingly the TT5 map is stored on the device rather than the card and given that the device starts up ok without the card inserted, it could be be that the TT6 application is ignoring the card.

Thnaks for your interest and help

But it shouldn't Smile TT6 can't use TT5 maps (and vice-versa).

I would de-install whatever TT programs are on your PDA, do a soft reset and start again. I suspect that only the icon has changed and that TT6 has not installed cleanly. There should be no problems loading TT6 from SD card.

I've got a 6910, and have been using the pre-installed TomTom 5 with my (previously bought) TT5 maps - all worked perfectly. I have just installed HP's free TT6 upgrade - downloaded some weeks back from (http://www.ipaqchoice.com/Generic3.aspx?page=navigation) though I think the offer has been withdrawn now. This has overwritten the TT5 program - nothing needed deleting or changing - it just worked.

Here's an odd thing, though - TT6 has just loaded my old TT5 map of the UK. It works perfectly, too! The version info reads: PocketPC device: App version 6.010 (7720) Map: 'Great Britain' v562.0. I know it's not the TT6 map as I haven't bought one yet. Wierd, as I thought TT6 can't read TT5 maps. Perhaps it's peculiar to the 6910/6915 with the pre-loaded TT5? Of course, I'll buy the TT6 maps just to get the latest road details - the TT5 maps are a bit out of date, but it's interesting none the less!
