|
|
Have made my mind up to get the Nuvi 660... I see Halfords are the only ones I can find at the moment who have it in stock. It looks like its going to be the same price anyway. A couple of sites say in stock from January.. Would there be any advantage in waiting or will it be the version etc..
.
Thanks

The 660 already ships with the new v9 maps which will start being released for other models in Jan 07 onwards, so there won't be any difference in the model available from others next year. The only thing that's likely to happen over time is that the price will drop, but by the time this happens to any great effect, Garmin will have already announced the next model in the range, and you'll continue on and on wanting the latest, and never buying a unit!
Any firmware updates can be applied via the Garmin website, so that won't make any difference. |

I think there will probably be some slightly better discounts in the January sales. I'm waiting until then to get my Nuvi 660. _________________ TTG 720

are there any other key differences for the 660 compared to ne 350 apart from that it has bluetooth conectivity and already installed traffic receiver? |

The 360 adds Bluetooth over the 350.
The 660 adds a Widescreen and integrated traffic over the 360.
All the 3x0 range can have traffic, using the GTM10, 11 or 12.
The other short term advantage of the 660 is that it ships with the 2007 v9 maps, whereas I've yet to hear of stocks of the 3x0 modules coming with v9 (*) - until Garmin officially release the new v9 maps, the upgrade from the installed v8 maps to the v9 maps is not free, so an additional cost to bring the unit up to date next year when they become available.
(*) At some point, all the models will ship with the v9 maps, but this could be into next year before it happens. |
