|
|
Hi,
I'm looking at getting one of these and have a couple questions:
1) What's the winscreen sucker like - does the unit fall off or is it secure? (I have a Garmin i3 and it frequently falls off)
2) Will the USB cable work with 1.0 port?
3) Can you drive with the unit connected to the lighter i.e. so it's always got a power connection? I read somewhere that someone moaned about only 4 hrs charge, but surely if it's always connected that won't be a problem?
4) Is it easy to download the speed camers from this site?
5) Does it include maps of Europe?
6) Is it a good system - do you recommend this?
Any help will be greatfully received. |

1. The suckers fine on my 510's mount and has never fell off my windscreen.
2. Yes
3. Yes it can remain connected to the power supply, The 4hr charge will be referring to the time it can be used with out a power supply. If connected it will remain powered and charge the battery at the same time.
4. Yes, First you have to subscribe http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/subscription.php
5. Contains seemless map of the region of perchase plus major roads of Western Europe.
6. I recommend one I've had mine since May and it's never let me down. |

Excellent! thanks. I've also seen the RDS-TMC Traffic receiver accessory. This sounds quite good - anyone have experience of one? |

1) You might want to register for the new style window holder at https://www.tomtom.com/newdock/ I've never had any problems with the old one so use the new one in a second vehicle.
5) "Does it include maps of Europe?"
It contains GB plus the Major Roads of Europe only. To get the seemless map of Europe (including all roads) you'd have to buy the GO710. It's the same unit just a different map. It's approx £50 dearer but if you get the GO510 then buy the Full maps on SD card you'd pay an extra £110.
6) "Is it a good system - do you recommend this?"
Oh yes, it's a great bit of kit. Particularly the HOME facility |
