When I bought my TT1 original a year ago, I followed the usual sensible advice and backed it up to a folder on the hard drive, put the SD card away in a drawer, never to see the light of day again. I used a 1Gb card from then on for updates, downloads, add-ons etc, without any major problems. My question is, should I now be thinking of updating my original Card to the latest version (6.52) (without changing any other data on there) and slipping it quietly back into the drawer for another year?
I always back up my ‘working’ card every time I update anything on it, just in case I need to go back to a recently known good working condition.
Incidentally, I tend to use the card reader approach when changing any data on the card, rather than Tom Tom -- USB. Using this method I seem to have avoided a lot of the problems that other users have had. Just my own personal observation for what it’s worth.

I would leave it and just keep on updating the 1GB card. The original card may not have enough room for the 6.52 upgrade without removing voices and things.

Yes, I’m inclined to agree. I was beginning to think that the only data worth recovering from the card, in an emergency, would be the Map itself but, in the event of the impending Map update??? Rolling Eyes – the card itself becomes redundant.

Don't you just HATE it when you come across people as sensible as this? Angry
Every time I crash something I say "Next time I'll do a backup". Embarassed

Yep.
And now that somebody else in another thread has guided me into finding my problem of a dud aerial, I also wish I kept receipts. Embarassed
