I have Palm TX and a Garmin Etrex GPS - which way to go now?

as in subject, I have a Palm TX PDA and a Garmin Etrex Legend GPS and I'd like to have a UK street routing solution that doesnt cost the earth.

Ideally I'd like to get traffic updates, but currently dont have a GPRS subscription for my mobile phone and would much rather use the radio codes method as its effectively free. Anyway, this would probably be something to consider later perhaps.

Is it viable to use my PDA and GPS with some purchased routing software, ideally that works on a PC also. or is there any free software available that would do the trick to allow me to figure out what I really want/need?

Or, if I want a solution that actually works reliably, do I actually need to go for the all-in-one solutions in a box?

I can get the cables from pc-mobile.net, unless there are better suppliers.
