Greetings all. I just got a Dell Axim/TomTom kit and I'm really pleased with the Nav part of the deal. Works like a treat.

But I'm frustrated by finding it difficult to fix the cradle to my car (Alfa Romeo 156). I decided to use the suction cap fitted to the round metal plate that sticks to the dash. And there's the problem - it doesn't stick properly and has collapsed.

Anyone have any ideas, please? I think one of the problems may be the faux leather plastic which is granular and hardly any surface seems to be truly flat. Thanks a lot. Best regards.

Joe

I'm not too sure what you get in this package as it's not something I've seen up close, but suction cups are usually best when fixed to a clean windscreen, they very rarely stick to the dashboard all that well.

Thanks, Dave. The TomTom car kit comes with various bits and pieces. As far as i could see, the air-vent attachment didn't fit my car and the windscreen seems a bit far away to attach anything to (if you see what I mean!) I've used a round metal plate which sticks on (or not!) and then the suction thing attaches to it quite successfully.

I don't really want to screw into the dash. I have seen various other attachments which look as though they would work but then the problem is the cradle which comes customised for the Axim. So, basically, I need a way of attaching the TomTom Axim cradle to the car without defacing the dash.
