|
|
Hi guys, apologies if this has been covered before, but is it easy to import a group of postcodes with names associated to each of them into TomTom 5 as POIs? I am trying to create a full list of Schools in Northern Ireland by using the postcodes (work related). Is there a template I need to set up by using Excel or something similar?
Sorry, but I am pretty new to this game as you can probably tell! Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards,

Probably the easiest way is by using something like AutoRoute.
You can import the Postcodes from Excel, or by typing them in Manually.
Import the Postcode. Save it and Convert the AXE File with POIConverter to make an OV2 File. Or any of several other Formats if required. _________________ Richard

Thanks for your help. | Well you could try Google Earth combined with POIEdit, I have done this in the past, the big advantage is you can move your location around on the map before saving the position, post codes in rural areas can cover a wide area, the aid of a building on the aerial photo shots can be quite handy. There are some details about this method HERE The only problem you might find is the lack of photo definition, NI doesn't appear to be mapped out to the same resolution as most of the UK - Mike |

Thank you guys. Mike - Google Earth is a great idea! I would never have thought of that. I will check it out. Not too sure about browsing for each of the buildings (there are 950+ Primary Schools alone) but I find the full postcode search on the Teleatlas maps to be extremely accurate so I would be happy just with the full postcodes.
Many thanks again |
