It seems as though there have been some problems experienced by users since the Quickfix update was added to Home. Am I correct in this?

I just started home with my One v2 and it seems as though I have little choice but to update or just coose not to use Home.

Should I update to the Quickfix? ( Im assuming thats what the update is )

Or just roll back to the older version of home?

And instead of making another thread......

I am a first time GPS user and took my TT on a LONG roadtrip down south, and it was BRILLIANT! I dont know how I ever lived without one. The effort it saved as well as time, fuel, frustration and a possible divorce was worth the money already.

We also got caught dead center of the storm coming back up and when the Motorway was shut I was able to "duck and weave". It was an awesome experience. I am now feeling confident about being able to drive around Europe.

I'd advice a little tolerance in Italy. Last summer (with previous maps) I found they do so much new road building that my satnav got lost a bit. The only problem that caused was I had it set to "avoid motorways" (and avoid paying), but a couple of times landed on a new bit of motorway which had taken over from the old road. Didn't cost me a fortune, just a bit of hair tearing!
And for transit across Switzerland - "avoid motorways" didn't avoid the border crossing where a nice man simply grabbed 30 Euros for an annual M'way permit (for half a day's travel!!) - impossible to turn round and avoid it!

Entering Switzerland can be pricey, if am in Germany I always cross over to France (A35) to enter Switzerland much cheaper Wink

Old memory, but I thought it was A35 I used - Basel. Was in tunnel, dual carriageway. Anyway, next time I'll know to use country back roads.

Thanks guys......I will definitely be asking for travel advice on here when we decide to go ( Im Canadian so I have ZERO knowledge of European road travel Wink )

Actually......if you would like to suggest a nice trip for the spring feel fre!

As far as my original query goes, does it seem as though there is an issue with either the new Home or the Quickfix?

Well, they drive on the same side of the road until you come to UK.
Enter Italy over the Splugenpass (from Splugen to Stuetta) and USE A SMALL NARROW CAR (or one with sponge sides!). Don't travel the Austrian passes at weekends - packed with literally hundreds of motorbike road burners.

As far as I'm concerned, there IS a horrible with the new Home. I don't know what they've done with it, but it's worse than its predecessor. Just seems to lock up and keep a grip on my device. Then I've gone back to having to do a reset every time I disconnect. And it refuses to allow me to own more than one TT.

Yes, indeed. Just two minor matters ...
1. (secret). Embarassed
2. TT Home won't let me do anything.

Well, I suppose Control Panel will do that for me. But do you know what will happen to all the software and map updates for 700, 710 and 910? I wonder if a system restore might go back to pre 1.5 without clobbering the rest of contents. I think I might give that a try.
(the secret Minor Matter No. 1 was about starting up a new thread entitled How can I get back to the rubbishy TT Home 1.3 from the rubbishyer 1.5 and who would have thought to do a backup of TT Home anyway apart from Oldboy and Andy_P2002 and everybody else on this website except me?). Crying or Very sad

Ho, Ho, Hoooo. System restore has set me back to Home 1.3. When I fired it up, it desperately tried to update, but I cruelly said NO. It doesn't look happy though - can't see a device even though putting the 710 SD card into the reader gave autorun of Home, AND it's recognised as a disk drive. I think I'll just sit back and see how I get on for a few days.

HOME has it's own uninstall, in Start | Programs | TomTom.

This takes out all the V1.5 'stuff', and leaves everything else in place.

V1.3 then installs in it's place and re-reads the HD. It uses the same Folder structure and uses what it finds there.

The only update message I get, because I have an older Version on another card, (that I tested it with) tells me there is an update for that.

It doesn't tell me that there is an update for HOME. I'm currently running 1.3 (308). It finds the GO and the Card Reader as Devices.;)

Incidentally, 1.5 also works OK with me.

Hmm. There's a saying somewhere about stopping digging if you find yourself in a hole. Unfortunately you'd gone offline, so with Control Panel I got back to 1.3, but as soon as it fired up it downloaded the update (broadband always connected, I didn't get the choice), but I refused it to install. I wonder if I should try again using the Uninstall in start ... ? I could at the same time switch off my router, but I suppose it would download the update next time anyway and I'll get the question about installing every time. It was never like this before they got computers!! Evil or Very Mad
