Can I purchase & use a map of France without paying for

Im popping to France for 5 days and would like to use my TomTom One.

I cant really afford over a hundred pounds for the map of Western Europe SD Card.

However, you can select and download individual maps withing the Plus services sight.

I have the correct software version on my TomTom but I haven't paid for the Plus services (Im asuming you do have to pay).

Can I still download the map of France and get it to work in my TomTom One?

I have seen some on Ebay...do you not need some sort of activation code for the Maps of Western Europe or do you just pop them into the TomTom and ...bingo?
I have seen some cheap SD cards on there with Maps of Western Europe.

No, the Map of France is very cheap...but it's downloadable from the TomTom Plus site.
I never paid for the Plus services so, I wonder, will it work on my TomTom after paying and downloading it?

You can just register and buy and download any map you like. There's no ongoing subscription or anything...

You don't need to be a Plus subscriber to download and install maps from TT. You will get a product code that you will need to use on Tom Tom site to generate an activation code for the maps you buy. That is all.

Thanks guys. I have downloaded the French map.
Went to install it and guess what..?
Yup, my 512KB sd card is too small! The French map is huge!

So I have ordered a 1GB card for £11.

I need to know at what point do I enter the product code? Im a bit worried cos so far I have seen no such code to enter (when i finally get the card).

Any idea?

I dont find TomTom particularly 'user friendly'! Im no slouch when it comes to pc/mac either!

You will need to enter your Product Code, and your Device Code, into www.ttcode.com , which will then give you an Activation Code.

This Activation Code can be entered when you use the Map for the first time. You will be prompted for it.;)

This is turning into a flaming nightmare for me!

Ive now lost my product code (the card)!

So when my sd card arrives I still dont know if I can get the French map (that I paid for) to work!

I have already typed in the product code and device code. Will I have to type them in again!

I will not recommend getting maps for TomTom's! I know they are trying to make it hard to pirate but not at the customers detrement!

The Product Code that you had for your original Map, is tied to that Map and won't Activate any other Map.

I should receive the SD Card in the next two days so Ill let you know how I get on.
