My i3 is on it's way but I have version 7 to 8 question.

I live in hamburg, just bought the i3 and should have it tomorrow. I've been reading that it's likely I will receive a version 7 model that will need to be upgraded. I'm not sure how to tell what version it is and if it is version 7, how to go about upgrading. Garmin customer support in Germany is abysmal.

I'll keep reading here but would appreciate a helping hand. THis is my first foray into GPS world. By the way, this model is supposed to have Germany pre-installed with a DVD with Western Europe on it.

Of course it's best to wait until my i3 actually ARRIVES! But all these i3 threads have me wound up. I'll kep reading so when i have further questions after trying to use it, I can be more concise. By the way, I'm an ex-pat yankee (had to get far away from George) living in Hamburg. I assume an i3 is the same device all over the world.
