Hi this may be of interest to Garmin i3 users,. I was hoping to assist with updating camera sites, but was I thought unable to just push a button on passing a camera site as our posh cousins with Tom Toms etc can do,.
However I was wrong, by holding the lefthand button down for a few seconds the location is given a number which can be added to Favourites. and used in conjuction with the Location software to identify the camera site.

Also I know that to update our camera software every month is a huge undertaking but the temporary fixed camera sites on motorways, e.g. the M40 between junctions 10 and 7 where gantry works are taking place are moved on a regular basis therefore would an interim update say every 2 weeks just for these type of cameras be a possibility.?

Sorry if my suggestion is impractical, just put it down to my age !! Embarassed

The old wrinkly....

I think you'll find it's the wheel you have to hold down (see page 9 of the User Manual). Most of us i3 users already do this, both for camera locations and to set a place as a favourite for future trips.

Thank you madam, I stand corrected, yes it is the wheel not the left-hand button. unfortunately my i3 seems to have a truncated handbook, page 1 to 7 are in English, page 8 onwards is french etc. I shall have to complain to my unit supplier.
Apologies to all... Ben. Confused

Embarassed Sorry, Ben, didn't mean to sound 'school mistressy'. No need to apologise!

Unfortunately, like so many things today, the manual is only available online from the Garmin website. You can download it here: http://www.garmin.com/manuals/917_OwnersManual.pdf

An equally old wrinkly (probably!)

Hi there, got the book download, super thank you. the unit does more than Garmin tell us, which is a shame.
I am still hoping they will update the software with a "go back the way we came" facility. Imagine the following scenario :-

me/ this isnt the way we came.
i3/ no dave its the pretty way.
me/ but I want the M1
i3/ turn down this farm track.
me/ OK, but I want the M1.
i3/ turn into this field.
me/ but this isnt the M1.
i3/ stop the car dave.
me/ continue driving.
i3/ dont you love me anymore dave?
me/ yes but I want to go home !!
i3/ after a long pause :-
This car will self-destruct in
5.... 4.... 3....2...........
