Hi i wonder if any peeps could answer this question please. I have a tom tom one which i have upgraded to the v6 software, i now find the refresh of my postion on the map whilst driving very slow. I can pass a side road before it shows on the screen. It was never like this on the v5 software. Also when you zoomed out it would auto zoom back in smoothly now it is very jurky. The frame rate / redraw of the map has slowed right down. Is this a limit of the ones cpu? or a FEATURE Embarassed of the new software? Does it do it on a 910 which i was thinking of upgrading too?
Thanks in advance for any replys guys
Chris

I have a ONE with about 35 sets of visible POIs (one is over 10000 POIs in size) and I see no lag. I am not running any third party applications or custom menus, or using custom voices. I am using a fast 2GB card.

Am i the only person to notice the slow response in the new software? Funny this review said the same thing about the 510 which runs v6 software!
Take a look at:

i would also like to add i got the new 910 today and i have just downgraded my old tom tom ONE to 5.450 which was the last update before v6, i run the demo mode on both to the same destination and the ONE is so much smoother flowing than the 910! the 910 (v6 software) has a very jurky update compared to the one with 5.450's very smooth!
How can this be? Any one give me some feedback as i love the 910 (maybe not the mount but early days) but i am not paying £430 for something/software that is slower!

I have a One and have no problem with the update affecting jerkiness. I did have a problem with the clock needing resetting everytime I switched on but this was cured with a reset. I might be worth trying a reset with yours to see if it makes any difference.

when i put 6.15 on my one is runs at the same speed as my NEW 910, When i downgrade the software to the last before v6 came along the ONE looks like it has twice the processor added! The v6 software must slow the unit down. try it yourself, its amazing how much v6 has an impact on the response of the unit. run an demo in the older software and notice how smooth.
thanks for replying.

I admit I also noticed this. It's not so critical as the ONE is quite usable (at least for me) but the difference is very visible. Also, the navigation through the menus (each page refresh when you click the icons) is slower. I imagine this has something to do with the gradient background which was not there before the upgrade.

They either did something to slow the CPU down (for whatever reason, I dont know) or somethig from the new software is using a lot of CPU, but constantly ! The slow refresh is present at all times.

i noticed that the 910 was running with only around 4mb or the 64mb ram free when the computer voice was on and thought this may be slowing up the 910 as i have only ever had the computer voice on since i had it. Anyway turned to just janes normal voice and now have 17mb free but still the same speed. I guess they have loaded the cpu up too much with the new update. Same because the response of the unit should be better than that on a new model! See what happen update wise later on,maybe they will write better code.
