I am using TomTom 5 and checkpoint. Checkpoint only has a few limited sound files for alerting speed cameras etc. Can anybody suggest where I can download a more comprehensive list? I understand I can record my own but I'm looking for a sexy female voice the last thing I want is to hear me droning on!!
Thanks for helping a beginner..... |

You dont need to use checkpoint with TT5, as it has its own built in POI warner. There are several voices available for use with TT. Try Liz Whitaker, who can be found at this site http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/
Make sure you use the correct file for your version of TT otherwise your unit will freeze. _________________ Peter

Thanks Peter, I was told by a friend of mine that I would need checkpoint to warn of cameras etc so didn't really look any further. I've had a look at the warning feature in TT5 but it doesn't seem as flexible as checkpoint. In checkpoint it seems (although I haven't got it to work properly yet!) that you can sound first and final warnings etc, plus for speed cameras, you can set it to verbally inform you of the speed limit. I really liked the idea of this last option. It doesn't look like TT5 has the same options, or am I looking in the wrong place? |

As Peter has said you only really need the inbuilt TomTom POI warning, CheckPOI was great for version 3 of the TT application, but I never got it to work fully with version 5.
For spoken alerts for each of the camera warnings have a look HERE once configured correctly it will do what you want, otherwise go to the site linked by Peter where there are other compatable voices you can install, eitherway wil give you spoken alerts dependent upon the actual speed of the camera.
If you want to use double alerts for each camera then there are options available to acomplish this whilst still obtaining spoken alerts - its just a tad more involved, advice can be given if you need this facility, but I would sugest trying the single spoken warnings to start with.
As ever when playing around with your unit in this way make sure you have a back-up of all the data on the memory card and PDA BEFORE you start - Mike |
