I am considering a PDA possibly XDA II I have a U2 usb GPS that works fine with my laptop. I am new to PDA's, is there a way of utilising this usb device or have I got to shell out extra cash yet again on one specifically for PDA

Apart from the Toshiba's the recent PDAs do not expose a USB Hub, just a USB client - not good enough fror your USB GPS. You'll have to shell out I am afraid...
