Tried to update my current TT but thought I may as well get a bigger SD Card - Reading up though can you just transfer all the data from the old TT SD Card to my new one or are the TT SD Cards locked to the Tom Tom Device ??

they are just normal sd cards.. and the tomtom if u dont have any tomtom software running will act like normal card reader..

u can just copy the old cards files over to a folder on your desktop.. swap the cards over and copy from desktop to the new card.. it should all just fire up and go then exactly as it did before..

make sure u have windows explorer set to show all files before u do it..

Make sure you use a 'Fast' SD card as well, they seem to dislike the normal speed ones. Anything 60x or faster seem to work fine.

i think 60x is nomal for most cards now.. OC/UK do some 60x 1 gig ones for about 12 quid and 2 gig ones for about 30 quid.. 512s are about 8 quid i think.. avoid the likes of curries and pcworld.. u get ripped for things like flash cards..

mine works okay with a year old "normal" sansdisk 512 card.. but i do need a new card reader it dosnt like any cards over 512..

u can get a neat small sd only card reader from OC/OK for about 8 quid.. the only downside is the shipping.. with a small cheap item it still costs about 9 quid with vat.. he he

i will buy one in the end but dont like doubling the price with shipping.. buy one or buy six it still costs the same 9 quid.. he he
