Greetings,

I'm using an iPAQ 5550 and Navman 3450 with firmware and SP2 updates installed. However, the iPAQ most often locks when SmartST has been used, the iPAQ has been turned off/on and SmartST accessed again. This seems like the problem discussed with PPC 2002, is this also the case with PPC 2003? Are others having this problem? Otherwise all is well...

The problem lies within the serial port of the IPAQ. The comport's resistor values sometimes float binary 1 and 0, causing the GPS signal to get corrupt. Even turning on/off the com port doesn't help in that case. Therefore, a reset is required in order to fix the problem. This is an IPAQ specific problem, and is not caused by the OS. The latest navman drivers attempt to work around this, but it is a nasty problem. You might want to check out the latest NAVMAN beta drivers. I've put them on my website : http://www.blackbit.net/freeware/NAVMAN-SERIAL-DRIVER-BETA3.1.3.zip

Do not forget to backup your IPAQ using activeSync NOT the internal backup prog. before updating.

Just a note : the beta 3.1.3 driver is actually newer than the current 3.1.6 version on Navman's site... :-)
