Error during planning Message

I have a tomtom go, with a UK map.

I have just brought a new french map, and inserted the card, which works fine.

I am in the UK right now, and setting up the itinerary on the french map, but each time it says
"error during planning"

Is this because i am still in the uk, and off the french map. Or is there a genuine problem??

I would appreciate any advice as i'm leaving soon!!

Other messages displayed is

"no route found"

"no route planned"

As i said, i think its because we are in the UK right now. But just want to be sure before we go on holiday!

I do have the france plus map. But this is on a seperate sd card to my GB map.

From what you are saying, the french iteninary should be working, whilst i'm in the uk.

So there is a problem with the tomtom/map???

It should work with the plus map. I have two Itineries set up at present, one for Lille and one for Brillon.

Can you set up a route from your Home to say 'Paris'? The reason I ask is, if your 'Home' is too far away from one of the 'Major Roads of Europe', maybe that's why it doesn't see it. On the France plus map I live about half a mile from a major route, maybe there is a certain distance after which TomTom won't be able to see where you are and that's why it can't plan a route.

Have you tried driving to one of the Major Roads, shown on the map, and then see if it works?

After much frustration we wiped the sd card.
We then reinstalled the tomtom software, voices and the french map onto the sd card

No joy

So we re-downloaded every thing again (tomtom software, voices, and map)

We then reinstalled, and its all now works fine.

Can't explain why, but it appears the previous download somehow got corrupted?

Hopefully if anyone else has this trouble they can read this thread, and it might help them out!
