Most cost effective way to buy europe & US maps

Hi, I'm about to buy Tom Tom and I want maps for Europe & USA. There seem to be two options for this:

1. Buy the UK software inc UK Map, Buy the Europe maps and then buy the US maps.

2. Buy the US software inc US maps then buy the Europe maps.

Option 2 is obviously cheaper. Am I missing something here or is this a quirk of TomToms pricing structure (i.e why dosent the UK software include Europewide maps?).

Will the US software describe UK roads correctly, e.g. roundabouts?

all software versions are included on the CDs, but you can also use the US version for the UK maps. It will handle "driving on the wrong side of the street" properly, the only difference is highway/motorway and rotary/roundabout titles

TomTom offer the UK maps separately because there seem to be many people that don't need the Europe maps because they never cross the channel.

Ah! thanks for the answer. So if I understand correctly, even if I buy the US software I can elect to install the UK version from the CD. Correct?

I guess I'll hang on for the moment anyway as it seems version 3 is imminant!
