New user...basic & Garmin Quest vs Quest 2 questions

I'm buying my first GPS and Quest or Quest 2 is higly rec'd by members
of the MSN Harley users group who have been helpful in the past..my
use will be 50/50 for work, agricultural appraiser covering the northern 2/3 of CA and for Harley rides mainly same part of CA with occasional trip to OR, WA, NV, ID. My questions:

1) Would I be better off to get the Quest and buy the City Navigation North America NT software or buy Quest 2 with its larger memory and preloaded software? If the software is on Quest 2 can I plan trips on my computer and then download or is all trip planning on Quest 2 done on the unit?

2) How good are the maps for rural areas? I currently use DeLorme Streets USA and it has some misinformation, as I'm sure Garmin's will.
