Getting out of using NMEA4800

I know this has been covered in the other main thread but I thought, hell, this forum seems to all exist in one thread; no harm in spreading it about a bit.

I have a SysOnChip CF GPS (from Sendmartin, in fact) and I have to say I am not experiencing any of the lag problems mentioned in the main thread. However, I do experience the issue whereby I can only connect via NMEA4800, or using the "SysOnChip Serial GPS" driver. I think the refresh speed (NOT lag) is lower than on my old Pretec CF GPS, and I think this is the reason.

There was some mention on the other thread of a SysOnChip utility to up the bandwidth - does anyone have this, or know where I could get it?

You really won't benefit from much apart from putting the processor of the Pocket PC into a wait state. This can be good if the cards aren't shielded correctly, but the SysOnChip CF Plus is shielded. Generally you won't see any advantage in increasing the baud rate, as there is no bottleneck (like you would have on a modem) at 4800 baud, as the data that is sent is very sparce.
