IPAQ 5550, Destinator PN, & Royaltek RTG-1001 problems

Hmmm this one is driving me to distraction.....

I upgraded from Destinator 3 and a Navman GPS Sleeve principally to get TMC capability, however just cannot get the thing to work.

The GPS side of things is great with the search times greatly reduced from my old SIRF sleeve but whenever I enable the TMC in the GPS settings I get "GPS Not Found" Errors and the Bluetooth connection between the Pocket PC and the GPS unit is broken (blue light goes out!!!!)

I have tried using the default comm's setting recommended by Destinator PN customer support and all the other possible comm's setting but same thing only differences being the length of time before I get the death knell of a "GPS not found" message.

Could really do with some help as I've read that people have got this running but I can't for the life of me and my ego, as I've worked with PC's and other kit for over 20 years, is really taking a battering.

The only thing I could possibly think is that the TMC is somehow linked to the map versions but that can't be right can it?

p.s. I have been using the provided TMC external aerial.
