I'm consistantly having problems with TT5 on a Mio 168 in that the program appears to 'lose' the GB map during a journey, needing a hard reset to start the program off again. All details (home, recent detinations etc) are lost. This appears to only happen in the UK (it works fine in France, Holland & Belgium (so far)). It happens alot (5 times on a 120 mile journey).
Have I set this up wrong? Is there a simple solution (patch?). Mio have just replaced the motherboard due to charging problems, but this problem remains. I'm a non-techie, so any help in english would be greatly appreciated.
Failing that, I might have to revert to talking to the wife on long journeys, (that's how desperate I am!) |

Try uninstalling/re-installing the GB map. I've had a minor problem with mine where it loses Favourites/Recent locations plus the Safety Camera audible/visual warnings stop working and I have to re-set distances and alerts. But only when using the GB map. The France+ map retains all the details I've set for that. But, there's only one .cfg file holding the data.

Thanks, I shall try wiping and recopying the GB map folder. I might take you up on the final offer - it took 3 trips to the garage before I realised the whinning wasn't coming from the car but from the missus... |

Does the mio come with TT? I thought it was some other software. If not is the TT you have a legit version? _________________ Peter

Not sure who that was directed at?

My original 168 came with TomTom3 which I updated to TTN5 with TT special offer. My son then 'borrowed' it and kept it.
I purchased another 168 bundled with TTN5. So now I have two activation codes on the TT site.
The A201 originally had a choice of Miomaps or TTN5 until problems occured with re-activation with TT software, now resolved.
Bsically, as far as I'm aware, you can install any mapping software on the 168. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

The 168 came without any satnav software - a friend of mine has just bought one (I've had mine for 12 months) and his came with Miomap which was fine in the UK but was giving some very odd directions and times when in France.
I bought and installed TTN5 originaly and it was 'losing' the map halway though a journey, but only in the UK. Mitac replaced the motherboard 2 weeks ago and returned it with TTN5 pre-installed. The problems were as described in the original post.
Have re-installed GB map, but not had the opportunity for a real test, although it is now holding my 'Home' between shut downs. If the problem continues, should I get hold of Tomtom or what?
Thanks in anticipation. |

I'm not so sure it is TT software causing the problem. My original 168, stolen by a loving son, gave me no problems with TTN3 or 5. He uses it daily all over England and parts of S Wales, no problems losing favourites or anything.
The only difference I can think of between his and mine is.
1. I have the safety cameras installed, he doesn't.
2. Until recently we both had Standard 1GB Kingston SD Cards but I changed to a 512MB Kingston Hi Speed 133x Card.
We can rule out the PGPSW Camera database as it doesn't appear to be a common problem. If I get the same problem again I'll go back to my 1GB card to see what happens. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
