I hope this thread is in the right topic area, but if not then i apoligise in advance.
Basically, i'm in the middle of setting up a database and i'm seeking some info on how to make the Postecode's i have into a downloadable POI databse.
I can get the long/lat co-ords easily enough, but what software would i need to convert them to a POI usable location?
Also, is there anyway of making a company logo into an Icon for use with the locations?
I hope this makes sense to some of you and you are able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks for reading this post, and thanks to anyone who can offer advice.
Dave

I should add that i have no intention of making my own speed camera database to rip this site off, and i happily pay the annual subscription as i feel it is worth every penny, and far beyond my skills to build and maintain.
Just incase anyone had any suspicions of my intentions Smile

Ok, i've followed th guide and got all the co-ords etc done, and made my poi's into ov2 format, but they won't display on my screen.
Anyone have any ideas? they aren't showing up on my "Edit Poi" options, so i'm lost.

Hi daveyonthemove,

Have you got a .BMP file of exactly the same name as your .OV2 file? I.e.:
MyDatabase.OV2
MyDatabase.BMP

Are your .OV2 and .BMP files in the correct map folder?

Have you used your maximum number of custom POIs?

Ensure that you have one or more viable backups and delete a couple of your custom POIs and try again.

Regards,

Hi Privateer,
Thanks for your reply.
I have double checked all the above and here are my findings.
File name is OV2 and icon is OV2 also in pixel size 22x22.
The data was put into the folder: Great_britain-map
I deleted several of my custom POI's last night as i no longer use a large majority, and i still can't find the new ones.
Hope this info gives someone a clue as to where i've gone wrong?
Dave

Is the sentence I've highlighted a typo? Icon should be .bmp. Also, have you enabled your new POI?

My mistake, it was a typo and the icon is BMP as it should be.
I have tried to enable it, but it isn't available for selecting.
not sure whats wrong

Quick update.
I have managed to get this working now, but only on a different memory card.
Not sure why it won't work on the memory card in it, but for some reason it won't, so thanks to all who offered help, and hopefully i won't need to ask anymore questions.
