|
|
Hi,
I posted a while ago asking for help, however still having no luck.
I believe the SD card version of TomTom works on the Mio A201?
If this is the case, is there a way to preload an SD Card using the CD's? I.e, to create an SD card with TomTom installed, as sold.
It also amazes me that companies are still selling TomTom with the A201, given the fact that TomTom list the device as incompatible.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Alan, Go to www.tomtom.com and download the TTN5,21 upgrade this will install on to your device as it is WM2005 compliant, if you want to put the installer files on the SD you will need to download the upgrade as a zip file and extract the CAB files from this (there should be two) - there is a post on this topic, somewhere - Mike |

Thanks for your reply.
However, the V5.21 update doesn't work either, I have tried many times, and many different approaches.
The end result is I get as far as selecting a voice, and then it just crashes out. If I remove the navigator.cfg file, it still only gets as far as the select voice page, and creates the navigator.cfg file again. _________________ Mio A201 | TomTom V5

Your mio device code keeps changing for some reason so tomtom has a few issues with it.
There is a post on here for how to get round it but its a known problem with the A201. Mitac dont seem to be to bothered about patching it either.
I'd search under A201.

I have a PDF file that someone sent me that may help. It worked for him.
I know you eventually get to a point when you ring tomtom to get an activation code.
PM me for the file if you wish. |

Thanks for the replies.
I have now got it installed (thanks to Mike), however TomTom's customer (don't) care are being there usual help.
Got the following response re activation code:
Quote: |
Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Please be advised that having checked which model of PDA you have we have seen that it is not on the Navigator 5 compatibility list, so we are unable to provide you support in this instance; please check the compatibility lists at the following link:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/category.php?ID=3&Language=1&query=navigator+5+compatibility&FID=3094
We cannot offer you any support for your PDA or Palm device if it is not listed on those compatibility lists as it has not yet passed our compatibility tests. Your device may be added to this list in the future as we are continuously testing devices for compatibility. Our compatibility pages are updated on a regular basis so keep checking to see whether your device has been added to the list.
Please be aware that our customer support department cannot offer you any advice about the compatibility of your device with our products other than the information listed on the compatibility lists.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team

I'm pleased to say that after contacting TomTom again, they have now issued me with an activation code, and things are up and running now.
I'm actually quite impressed with the A201, and the speed at which it aquires satellites, and calculates routes. A great improvement from my Hx4700.
Thanks,

Apparently theres a patch due soon to fix the device code problem as well.
Only took them four months.
