I'd like to know if anyone has managed to get their cps device covered under their home/car insurance and how it's done?

Check your home insurance you will probably be covered if by that for loss of damage. (But not if stolen from your car).

If it is lost or stolen all you need to do is contact the nearest police station to get a 'crime' number, which the insurance will need.

Car insurance companies vary so it would be best to check with yours.

Welcome

I read an article about this in the Sunday Times.

If the GPS is a car navigation system (ie TomTom) which you only use while driving then it is probably covered by your car insurance.

If your GPS is a general purpose navigation system (ie Garmins like the Quest or GPS60cx) that you use for the car, bike, walking, flying, boating etc then it is probably covered by your home insurance.

However, tonys66 is exactly right. DON'T leave it in the car unless you want to be posting a sad story in the Stolen forum here along with the other people who have had theirs nicked.

Yes of course, explained better than my attempt.

I mentioned in another post where a short while back I was filling up at the garage and noticed the car on the next pump with the window wide open, and TomTom stuck on the offside of the screen. The owner was in the 'shop' waiting to pay. Two seconds and it would have been gone. I've also seen reports that drivers sitting in traffic with their window open and Sat Nav on right side or on quarter light, are amazed when some 'scrote' runs out and makes a quick grab and disappears faster than you can say b*****d.
