Hello everybody,

I am planning to upgrade my 3870 to a new hp1940 or a hp2210, I am now using a leadtek 9532 and I am fully satisfied with its performance, I am now looking (for my new device) for a new gps receiver i could possibly use not in-car only. I saw plenty of reviews about the new receivers but i obviously i cannot test them.

I bought the leadtek following your suggestions and has been a great choice, so I am back again to you guys for another reliable suggestion.

what should I buy fom my new device? which is the best receiver to use with TT2 in terms of TTF and reliability? I am questioning because I am planning to buy a CF or BT receiver and I really don't want to miss my leadtek performance. Moreover I am also worrying about battery life if i use it outside the car.

thanks in advance and congrats for the site

Hi, if you're thinking of using it outside of the car alot, then a Bluetooth Receiver would be better. Mainly because CF Cards put a drain on your Pocket PC battery more than a Bluetooth Receiver will. Also a Bluetooth Receiver won't add any bulk to the Pocket PC, and you can put it in a shirt pocket and most will work just as well this way, or even in a coat pocket, or if you want to feel a real idiot, velcro it to a hat Wink

Bluetooth will be more expensive in a receiver. To be honest, it's getting to the point that most of the BT GPS Receivers are near on par with each other.

From a personal experience, I still like the Emtac/Socket being the smallest in the range, and has marginally the best signal reception. I'd say follow that by a GlobalSat from the point of view it has much better battery performance, and closely by the TomTom, Navman, SysOnChip BT GPS, and RoyalTek BlueGPS.

Emtac/Socket, TomTom you'll get around 6-6.5 hours usage.
GlobalSat will give you around 11.5 hours usage.
Navman will give you around 15 hours usage.
SysOnChip will give you around 7.5 hours usage (In Review!)
RoyalTek will give you around 7.5-8 hours usage (In Review!)

The only problem with BT GPS' is you have to remember to charge them. The other difference is the price, you can pick up a CF GPS for a little under £100, where as a BT GPS will be £170 upwards.
