I am totally new to this world and have already ordered the following, after many hours of debate..., Wish I had come across this site first!

The package purchased is as follows:

1) 2210 PDA
2) Fortuna BT GPS receiver with Sirf Xtrac dual chip (new to market)
3) 256 CF card
4) TTN2
5) TT in car cradle, bespoke design for 2210

Can anyone answer the following.....

Is this set up any good or should I cancel I buy a package such as the TTn2 blue tooth package or similar.

Have I been too hasty and ordered a product that’s not been tested?

Is TTn2 better than navman or other software

What do I need to enable OS maps so I can use it mountain biking and walking as well as for satnav car use.

Help......

Thumbs Up

Well, after a bit of a slow start trying to get the thing to work with a 3Com USB dongle (I gave up and bought a DLink unit instead) I've finally got the clipon bluetooth working.

Just come back from a little drive with my Tablet PC hooked up to the bluetooth GPS, I live south east london which is fairly densely populated in terms of high rise obstructions. The ST mode struggled to get 2 satellite signals but when I switched it over to XT it plodded along just fine.

Equipped with Autoroute 2004* I even went for a spin down Bishopsgate, Liverpool Street in the city of london, again no problems in XT mode but zero signal in ST which isn't suprising given that every other building is a big one.

When in XT mode the update isn't the fastest but fast enough to cope with the maximum anyone will ever be travelling in central london trafic.

An amazing bit of kit.

Jamie

*Incidently autoroute 2004 seems to only recognised the virtual com port under windows XP on the tablet. I have another PC running Windows 2000 and this only recognised the 'real' (1&2) comports. I've absolutely no idea if Microsoft plan to release a patch in the future. Still, at £50 I think it has to be the best value bit of software I've ever bought.
