Is it correct that with other types of Sat Nav you can just upgarde the maps by download instead of spending a fortune to get a couple of different roads on TomTOm

The recent upgrade from vs7 to vs8 on the Garmin i3 was/ is free, but this is a rare event, a map upgrade is usually charged for by the supplier, it costs considerable money to "map" the country so it shouldn't be free, quite often regestered users get the upgrade pack at a cheaper price than the full purchase charge applied to a complete new installation - Mike
