NUVI and different maps!!!!!

Not sure if this info. is already known, but here goes.

Phoned the shop I had my Nuvi from, asking about maps for France, which you can buy at about 80 quid.

I mentioned to him I also had the Quest and he suggested using the maps from that and just do a second unit unlock.

So I installed a section of France last night and it appears to work, my Nuvi now shows City Nav ver 8 uk/ireland and City Select ver 7 France.

In order to do a second unit unlock I went to the Garmin site, called up the info they have on me by using my customer code and the option to do a second unit unlock was there, I then entered the serial number of my Nuvi and it gave me an unlock code which I entered into Mapsource.

Hopefully won't be singing Lost In France now!!!! :D

Sounds like a cost-effective way to get the whole of Europe, by buying the latest Garmin CD instead of the various SD Cards for European regions, which may be useful for non-computer users, but un-economical for most of us
