I did the same thing and couldn't find anywhere cheaper so I eventually bought a replacement.
Interestingly I have since read about other people who have somehow cracked the screen on their devices. In one case a repair was carried out FOC and it makes me wonder if there is a tendancy for the screens to crack due to no fault of the owner.

I bought my Mio 268+ through Globalpositioningsystems, I had a problem with a flickering backlight recently. Globalpositioningsystems use a company called Comserve, I'm not sure if you can use them directly, but it might be worth enquiring. They might be cheaper than Mitac.

Strangely enough, Mitac appear to be using Comserve to repair their
products.Confused

Mitac sent pre-paid special delivery packaging addressed for Comserve.

I am waiting on Mitac for an exact quote to repair the unit.

I will let you know what happens.

Pete.
