My Vodafone VPA crashed last week and somehow corrupted by PN install. When re-installing I decided to try and install it to my 1Gb SDCard rather than into the remaining ram to leave it free for other stuff. However, it didn't work out satisfactorily so I went back and installed it to the Main Memory again. However, I now get memory shortage errors and on startup on PN on most occasions, I get the error
"LoadInterfaceData Error: Destinator Image file not found"
after which sometimes it loads and other times it doesn't. I have tried to remove it completely and re-install but cannot get it back to the way it was originally.

Would be very grateful for any suggestions

I should have noted properly that my device is a VPA Compact / i-Mate Jam etc.

Try removing the program (back up any favourites etc) using active sync, then find the Destinator apps folder on the pda (not the one on your SD with the maps on it) then reinstall. Could be that you have some bizarre setting which isn't being cleared when you uninstall.

As a general solution I recommend Sprite Backup. Costs next to nothing and acts like a Norton Ghost for your PDA including self-restoring exe's on your SD card and desktop PC. No PDA user should be without it. With this you could have experimemted with your install but returned to your original config in a matter of minutes if you had problems.

I did this several times and on the last time, I removed the SD card completely and installed it again but still no joy.

A colleague in work has also just got his Vodafone VPA Compact and asked me to install Destinator on it for him. He had 39Mb free before I started and had 30Mb afterwards.

When I go to re-install Destinator PN, it says that I have just over 10mb so somewhere along the way I have lost about 29mb. The only other thing I have done to the VPA is to Active Sync it with my Outlook 2000.

Any suggestions as to where I could go to find this stuff to delete it or else, is it plain sailing to re-install the VPA from scratch again?

If you haven't got much on it like email accounts and stuff then a hard reset has to be easier. Destinator takes about 5 minutes if your maps are already on your SD.

Problem solved - after looking at my colleagues unit, I went looking at my own again and I found the Find Files utility and then searched for large files and low and behold, there was a 23mb Recording (must have hit the button by mistake at some stage) and so basically, the unit had no room to work. All is now sorted perfectly.
