Is anyone aware of any intention to add this facility. I know it would require new data, but it doesn't seem to me that difficult to achieve.

As far as I know it can already do this (I use it), try change Preferences, Turn off map display, select the check box for Above a certain speed then set your desired speed, if you go over this setting the display goes dark very quickly - Mike

I think that TonyD means a warning when the posted limit is exceeded.

Exactly - that's why I said it would need new data. Every street (and potentially sections of a street) would need an extra attribute of speed limit. Although it's not a trivial task, once done it would be fairly stable as speed limits change less frequently than cameras.

I believe that Garmin Mapsource CityNavigator has this data, though I'm not sure how complete or accurate it is. It may be that TeleAtlas can also introduce it.
