I'm having a lot of problems with CP6 hanging, can't seem to be able to identify a sequence but the only way out is to do a soft reset. Also if after closing CP when I try to restart it I get a message "Default Ime" or "ALKGpsTmcWnd" on the main PDA screen - it replaces "Start". Also I've seen multiple SD folders, on one occassion there were 7. The highest numbered (in this case SD7) had all of the CP files but the others had a My Documents folder which had a gpstracks folder in it. Also I get the timer disk running continuously, it done it to me this afternoon when I tried to do a detour.

Looking at all of the posts no one has mentioned any of these so am I alone? I've raised a but report with ALK but god knows if it will be taken not of.

Does anyone know when the first update is due?

Phil

Hi, I've had the same trouble (hanging/freezing) on a MIO 168, I find if I open and close the contact list by pressing the button on the front Copilot comes back to life.

Must say that I have upgraded from CP4 and its the worst; not better.
No ETA. Gave it its head in Spain, just counts down from 24.00 hours to about 25 minutes and then starts over again. Because a village I was in was not on the map, it refused to route me back to base just gave air miles, ok if I was Flying in a straight line.
And back home the postcode is worse than useless none of the codes for SA19. WR8. EX17. S80. are even in the right villages, which was one of the reasons I bought the thing in the first place

If an up grade is not forthcoming soon I think I will revert back to CP4 at least it was accurate even if the map base was out of date

While I can't comment on the first post, I am a little suprised by the comment of the user with the MIO168 having so many problems. I use the same hardware, and so far haven't experienced any hanging problems I have not been able to get around.

However, I am using the UK only version, so it is possible that there are diferrences there.

As for ETA, ALK are aware of problems, and are working on a (long overdue) fix.

With the inability to route you back when you are 'off the map', I wouldn't be suprised if this happenned with many other applications too - after all, if it doesn't know where you are, how can it route you.

ALK are also aware of problems with the postcode data, and have asked (on these forums once) that users let them know of any deficiencies so that they can pass them on to their data provider.

The one situation I do have the application hanging is when initially starting guidance for a route - where it insists on continually re-calculating it! This is 'fixed' by making it calculate a detour, and when this has been completed, cancelling it. The whole process takes just a few seconds and has now become second nature (but still remains annoying!)
