M6 B'ham SPECS Cameras?

Travelled through Birmingham on the M6 over the bank holiday weekend, unusual for me as I tend to take the M6 Toll but that didn't seem the best route when heading into Wales. So I don't know if these are very new or not as I haven't previously travelled this way for months.

Anyway going along I looked up and was spooked by a SPECS camera peering down at me from one of the overhead gantries - looking at the next few a bit more closely and they appeared to have SPECS cameras on them too but covered over with flourescent orange bags (like the 'not in use' bags you'd see on traffic lights).

This is along the central-ish stretch, where the motorway is raised up on pillars, near Fort Dunlop if I'm remembering correctly.

MaFt's useful change to the submission page suggests there's nothing been removed from here in the past 4 months, nor anything current in the database - are they up to something along this stretch?

We have these as provisional reports submitted since last weeks release so they are marked for verification and will hopefully be in the next release assuming we can verify before then.

There are four Westbound between Castle Bromwich and the Spaghetti Junction/A34 exit.

I've also seen these but was waiting for more evidence as to what they will be used for. They could be Specs or just more CCTV cameras (there's a lot on this stretch).

However, I've just checked the Highways Agency site and there will be overnight lane closures along the stretch for several weeks.

Later submissions may give more info as the roadworks were scheduled to start on the 19th or 27th May (it was clear on Monday 26th). I'll be along there tomorrow.

EDIT: Re-reading the site, it could be 24hr lane closures. For some reason, there's one entry for 10pm to 6am then another for 6am to 10pm .
